ADHD, Memory Like a Goldfish, and the Supplements That Saved My Brain

So here’s the deal: my kid gets diagnosed with ADHD. I freak out.
My husband casually drops, “Oh yeah, I have ADHD too.” And I’m standing there like: Wait… what the hell did I sign up for?
At first, ADHD sounded kind of intimidating because I had literally heard about it only once or twice. So, like any desperate parent, I dove headfirst into books, forums, medical journals, and way too many late-night Google rabbit holes. And guess what? Surprise, surprise — turns out I have ADHD too. Undiagnosed but oh-so-obvious. Suddenly I look around and realize… my mom has ADHD, my grandmother had ADHD, basically half my family tree is lit up like a Christmas tree with ADHD.
And here’s the kicker — I used to think ADHD was this trendy “excuse” diagnosis. You know, like “Oh, sorry I didn’t do my homework, I have ADHD.” 🙄 Yeah, I judged hard. But the reality? There’s a difference between people who just don’t want to do sh*t, and people whose brains are literally wired differently but still fight daily to function.
Now, my personal ADHD hell looks like this:
Over-focus (yes, it's real — and no, it's not helpful when you're stuck obsessing over the wrong crap).
Zero focus (because sometimes your brain just decides it's on vacation).
Memory — or what I like to call selective amnesia on steroids. After my daughter was born, it was game over. I'd walk into a room and instantly forget why I was there. Basically, I was living as Dory from Finding Nemo… except less cute and more panicked. It is literally scary!!! You try to remember anything and all you see in your head is a blank page.
I honestly thought my days of functioning like a somewhat normal human were over. I felt like my brain had completely checked out… and then came supplements.
Now before you roll your eyes: no, I’m not saying supplements are magic pills or a “cure.” But holy hell, when you find the right ones (and yes, with actual bloodwork and a doctor, don’t be a dumbass playing guinea pig), it feels like your brain gets rebooted.
Suddenly, I could remember things. I could focus. I wasn’t constantly losing my train of thought mid-sentence.
Here’s the ADHD supplement stack that changed everything for me:
🔥 Best Supplements for ADHD, Focus & Memory
NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) – Boosts brain energy and cognitive function, enhancing performance in individuals with ADHD by improving focus, concentration, and memory
DMG (Dimethylglycine) – Enhances oxygen utilization and supports overall brain health.
DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) – Improves memory and mental clarity.
Alpha GPC – A potent choline compound that supports cognitive function and memory.
N-Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALCAR) – Supports mitochondrial function and energy production in the brain.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) – An antioxidant that supports cellular energy and brain health.
Do some digging on each one to get the full picture of their benefits!
🧠 TLDR
Supplements aren’t magic pills, and seriously — they should not replace the real ADHD treatments you’re already doing, like therapy or meds.
They won’t make ADHD disappear, but they do give your brain a little boost. Think of them as fuel for your chaos-filled head — they can actually make a huge difference in memory, focus, and energy. And please, don’t be an idiot: get blood tests, talk to your doctor, and have a plan.
For me? These supplements took me from feeling like a scattered goldfish to finally having a brain that actually works with me, not against me.
And honestly, I'll take that win every damn time.
